I am a healthy 75-year-old male and am experiencing a sudden increase in my libido. What could explain this? It has been going on for about six weeks. I am concerned that I have some sort of medical problem that has not been diagnosed.

When it comes to sex, anything is possible. In many, libido subsides after 70. But not all. And if not all, why not a few who become more libidinous?
On the other hand, you’re concerned, and I could imagine some hormone imbalance might be involved, which could warrant a medical work-up. So see your doctor or urologist, and if you still feel concerned, find a sexual medicine specialist by visiting the Sexual Medicine Society of North America.
I wish you great sex.
Some Parkinson’s Disease treatments can cause an increase in libido. But neurotransmitters in the brain naturally wane and change as we get older. So maybe some of the brain circuits that normally suppress sexual desire are getting weaker, and your sexual desire surges now without that inhibition. The only other thing I can think of is a brain tumor causing this, but it’s very, very unlikely. You could see a doctor and maybe get test after test to see if anything’s wrong. But really, is higher libido a problem? It’s a good “problem” to have! Enjoy it while you can.
