I’m just getting back into the world after a divorce. But I’m not looking for a life partner right now, or anything serious like that. I haven’t had sex for awhile, so I’m looking for women who may be looking for a little fun like me, just some really good sex. Do you know any dating sites that are good for finding women with this kind of experience in mind?

You sound more interested in casual sex than in dating. The big casual sex site is Adult Friend Finder, which claims 30 million members worldwide and is filled with hype about how eager its female members are for the kind of relationship you envision. But I’ve never heard of anyone actually hooking up using it. You’re free to pay your money and try it, but I seriously doubt that you’ll have much luck.

Which leaves the many many dating sites. They generally tout companionship and relationships, not sex, but of course, sex is part of romantic relationships (at least I hope so), so using these sites may well lead to the bedroom. I have never used dating sites myself, but several divorced friends have, and they seem to prefer eharmony, so I’ll recommend that one.

The big advantage of dating sites is that you cast a wide net. The big disadvantage is that many members aren’t really interested in meeting face-to-face, but rather in attracting your attention and playing you, then flaking when you suggest phone calls or meeting.

I know couples who met through dating sites and fell in love. But there’s nothing magic about them. They’re just another way to meet people, one of many. As you use dating sites, don’t dismiss the traditional ways to meet lovers–through friends, organizations you belong to, or activities you enjoy.

Good luck and please let me know how you fare on dating sites.

Michael, I will respectfully disagree with the eHarmony recommendation. That service is explicitly set up to help you find your life/marriage partner. I think the question-asked would be much better off with OK Cupid — free, lots of members and you can specify that you’re looking for casual. CraigsList is also good for casual. Almost anything is better than eHarmony for that purpose!

Hey, Robin, thank you for your insight! As I mentioned, I’m not experienced with dating sites and simply recommended the one my friends have said they liked best. I’m delighted to be corrected. Thanks again!
