sad middle aged man

I am  age 40. Do sexual feelings go away at my age? My erections are not as hard as b4.  And in bed I don’t get in mood for doing sex due to some personal business problems the past 3 to 4 months. Is my loss of sex feeling due to tension or age? Do please guide me for peace of mind. I thank you.

  • Michael Castleman says:

Sexual interest and ability do not automatically start declining after 40. However, as men get older, libido slowly declines and so does erection ability. Men who smoke cigarettes often notice these changes at 40 to 50—smoking damages the arteries involved in erection. Nonsmokers usually notice these changes from 45 to 55. So, if you’re a smoker, that may contribute to your problem.

But as you mention, major stress also reduces sexual interest and erection function. You haven’t supplied much information, but I’m guessing that your business problems of the past few months are the main reason for your recent sexual issues. If they can be resolved, I bet you’ll regain your libido and erection function.
