I was fingering my girlfriend when we were getting frisky, but before that I had touched my penis. I had not ejaculated, but did have a little bit of pre-cum, but I had peed before that. Before I fingered her, I had slightly rinsed my fingers with only water. Is there any chance my girlfriend could get pregnant from my fingering her?

I can’t say there’s absolutely no risk of pregnancy from the actions you described, but I’d say her pregnancy risk is near zero. To cause pregnancy, sperm must usually be injected deep inside the vagina. You didn’t do that. While it’s true that pre-cum may contain some sperm, your handwashing almost certainly removed it. So your pregnancy risk is very very low.

However, if you fingered her within the past few days, and you or your girlfriend are really worried, she could take Plan B, the emergency post-sex contraceptive. It’s available without a prescription at pharmacies.

Finally, if you guys want to be sexual but not get pregnant, please make a mutual commitment to effective contraception every time. I urge the two of you to visit a family planning clinic or Planned Parenthood together, learn about all the methods, and select the one that best fits into your lives and relationship. If you use birth control every time, you won’t have to worry about this again.
