I read your article in Psychology Today on non-monogomous relationships and both the negative and positive aspects of swinging. My wife and I are sometime occasional swingers. So far we have benefited from the experience. We are just turning 60. We do not intend to stop.
What does your research indicate about swingers over 60? It would seem to me that the emerging wave of swinging in the 40-50ish crowd will carry over into our 60s and 70s.

For those who haven’t seen my article The Curious Couple’s Guide to Occasional Non-Monogamy .
I agree with you. If couples swing in their 40s and 50s, some might have had enough by the time they’re in their 60s, but others who enjoy it can be expected to continue into their 60s and beyond. But it depends on the couple….
That is my observation as well, as we see more and more older couples still in the game. Do you have any idea of the numbers?
The studies I’ve seen suggest that 1 to 2 percent of the adult population is involved in swinging. With the over-18 population now around 220 million, that’s 2.2 to 4.4 million swingers. Another 2 to 3 percent of people are “curious” and might try a swing club now and then. That’s another 4 to 6 million. So swingers form a small proportion of the population—but swinging still involves a lot of people, enough to support swing clubs in every major metropolitan area and many rural locales, which is what we have.
