For the last 12 years, I have masturbated frequently, sometimes daily.  I am not married. Please tell me if this might cause any problems in my sex if I get married.

No. A history of masturbation does not damage or interfere with marital sex.

The same is true for continued masturbation after marriage—except in two situations: if you masturbate so frequently that you lose interest in or ability to function in partner sex. And if you mention your continued masturbation to your wife.

Some women believe that they should be the sole source of sexual gratification in marriage and object to husbands’ continuing masturbation. Meanwhile, it’s quite likely that you’ll continue to masturbate after you marry, perhaps less than you do now, but solo sex is our original sexuality and most men continue to enjoy it after marriage. Why give up apple pie once you’ve tasted peach? Some men discuss their masturbation with their wives, but from what I’ve observed, most don’t. If you marry, you’ll have to decide for yourself.
