Penis pumps provide temporary erection enhancement. It’s best to use them shortly before attempting intercourse. The effect usually doesn’t last very long.
But pumps’ effects depends on the type you use. Penis pumps sold by sex toy marketers generally produce less enhancement for less time than pumps custom made through urologists. The reason is the tightness of the seal around the base of the penis. Pumps work by creating a temporary vacuum around the penis that draws fluid into the organ, enhancing erection. The tighter the seal, the greater the effect. Custom pumps create the best seals so they work better and enhanced erections may last a little longer. But custom pumps are considerably more expensive. My advice: Try a pump or two from a sex toy catalog and see how they work for you. If you’re satisfied, then fine, no need for a custom pump. But if you’re not satisfied with toy pumps, you might approach a urologist about obtaining a custom-fitted model.
