Listen Mister, stop spreading misinformation. Have you any basic knowledge of the female anatomy? There’s no such thing as “unfolding tissue” in the vagina, that magically folds back after birth like origami. The vaginal canal is surrounded by the pelvic floor muscles, during birth they get stretched out quite a lot, and sometimes they can tear together with the vaginal canal and the vulva. The muscles regain their form back after birth and even faster and to full normal state when a fresh mother does Kegel exercises, which are basically tensing and relaxing the pelvic floor with focus on the regain of control over it.
I personally have vaginismus and an over-tensed pelvic floor, shortened pelvic muscles and because of this whole ordeal i also have chronic urethral pain (the muscles press the urethra against the pelvic bone). I have done dilation for more than 2 years by now, i have done reverse Kegels which are essentially tension and relaxation of the pelvic floor with explicit focus on relaxation of it. I have been to myofascial transvaginal therapy for over 2 years. And i can tell you that besides having regained control over the unwanted tension of my vagina when penetrated and having my muscles worked on and the tension repeatedly released and trigger points treated, my muscles had been shortened and had to be stretched out manually by myself and by therapists. I had to dilate at the beginning and stretch them, later on not one, but all in all 3 therapists remarked how shortened my muscles were and had to stretch them in depth again and again.
Now I am tired of people blurting out misinformation everywhere. It took me a very long time to find the right therapists, doctors and treatment for my condition(s). I suffered a huge deal because of it and was many months dreaming of suicide just because of the chronic pain and problems i was in all the time. I got much better by now but i still have a chronic over-tension of the pelvic floor and with it way too short muscles and my chronic pain. Please STOP spreading misinformation, it leads to people losing time and having to suffer longer. Go educate yourself.
I still don’t understand why you think the pelvic floor muscles can not be shortened. If they had been in this tensed state all my life until now, why shouldn’t they be shortened? My whole body is over-tensed and my leg muscles are shortened too and I have to stretch them regularly, it feels exactly the same like when my therapist stretches my vaginal muscles. I did not make this up. You are making stuff up. And it’s not okay.

I’m very sorry that you suffer vaginismus. But I stand by what I wrote. The vagina contains folded muscle tissue. The pelvic floor muscles form a figure-8 around the genitals and anus, but inside the vagina, it’s folded muscle tissues that unfolds a bit during sexual arousal and a great deal when a term fetus passes through it.
